Description:
Between Two Castles Essential Edition is a competitive drafting and tile-placement game for 1-8 players from designers Ben Rosset and Matthew O'Malley, with a playtime of roughly 45-60 minutes. This edition simply bundles the original game together with the Secrets & Soirees expansion in one box, with no changes to gameplay or design. Thematically, players take on the role of master builders tasked by a king with designing castles, working simultaneously with the player to their left on one castle and the player to their right on another. Each turn, players select and reveal two tiles from their hand, then place them collaboratively with their partners. At the end of the game each castle is scored, but a player's final score is the lower of their two castles' scores, meaning success requires balancing attention and strategy across both partnerships rather than focusing on just one.
